For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Tim. 1:7
When we trusted Jesus as Savior the Holy Spirit of God took up residence in our hearts to provide the continuous comfort that we need to eliminate our fears.
With God in control, we can face fears that may hinder our success.
It is not wrong to have fears. What is wrong is when we let fears control us. When we become consumed by fear.
But know this, the Lord Jesus gives us the ability to do what might be difficult and absurd to the rest:
To work hard and honest when others would not, to love our studies, respect our teachers, be loyal to our school, and obey our parents, when others hate to do so.
And to follow rules and subject ourselves to discipline and proper control when others would struggle or run away.
God has given us the spirit to stand for what is right though we may be alone in our stand.
Sometime ago, a test was conducted at a university where 10 students were placed in a room. Three lines of varying length were drawn on a card.
The students were told to raise their hands when the instructor pointed to the longest line.
But 9 of the students had been instructed beforehand to raise their hands when the instructor pointed to the second longest line.
One student was the stooge. The usual reaction of the stooge was to put his hand up, look around, and realizing he was all alone, pull it back down.
This happened 75% of the time, with students from grade school
through high school. The researchers concluded that many would rather stand with the majority than risk being right and alone.
Now is the time when you will have to face some of your fears squarely with a firm confidence in God. Never ever take your cues from the crowd. Majority doesn't mean right. If you are on God's side, you and Him is more than the majority.
Though fears might be with you all your life, just be willing to admit that there is an absolute right and an absolute wrong.
Follow your conscience. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking from your heart and you will be alright.
After all, you serve the God who gave you the spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline!
USE IT! Success isn't impossible.
